We’re going to have a little ingredient spotlight on CACAO for a second here! All chocolate is started from cacao beans. Cacao is the seed [nut] of a fruit. REAL chocolate has ONE ingredient. Its the chocolate before it’s filled with sugar, dairy, and chemicals. These little raw beans are so incredibly good for us…they’re like a best-kept secret.

Here are some pretty cool things about cacao in its natural state
Raw cacao shouldn’t be confused with cocoa. Cacao is made by cold-pressing the raw beans and ensuring that no nutrients are lost by heat treating. Often the unique properties of raw chocolate are destroyed by the roasting, refining, and processing – which I’m afraid takes all of the incredible benefits out from your regular ol’ chocolate bar.

I love mixing it into my smoothies or drinks, it adds a nice texture!! My favourite is making a choco-espresso or choco-cherry smoothie with cacao powder AND nibs! I also enjoy topping the nibs onto yogurt and berry snacks.
